US Border Patrol achieves “Zero Release” for eight consecutive months

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the United States announced on Friday, January 16th that the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released operation statistics for December 2025 and the first quarter of 2026 (October to December).

Secretary Kristi Noem stated in the announcement, “We have once again achieved a historic low in the number of border interceptions and have achieved zero parole releases for the eighth consecutive month.”

Noem emphasized, “Every month, we are achieving results that were once considered impossible: the safest border in history and unprecedented enforcement achievements.” She also expressed gratitude for President Trump’s leadership and the dedication of DHS law enforcement personnel, noting that the achievements made in just one year are remarkable.

The announcement specifically highlighted that in December 2024, the border patrol under the Biden administration released 7,041 parolees at the southwest border, whereas this December saw zero parole releases.
