On the eve of June 4th each year, it is a sensitive moment for the Chinese Communist Party. The authorities urge officials at all levels to closely monitor the movements of the people and guard against sudden events. Recently, near the Overseas Chinese University in Quanzhou, Fujian, which is directly under the United Front Work Department of the CCP, someone hung banners reading “freedom” and “democracy” on a pedestrian overpass and sent images and messages to overseas Chinese democracy activists.
In Los Angeles, the Chairman of the International Alliance of the Chinese Democratic Party, Jie Lijian, received information from China last Saturday (24th): Near the Overseas Chinese University in Quanzhou, someone hung two yellow cloth banners with “freedom” and “democracy” written on them on the pedestrian overpass on Miaoyun Street.
The writer claimed to be a student of the Overseas Chinese University who hung the banners and included a few paragraphs of text along with the photos:
“It has been 36 years since June 4th. We don’t want to wait any longer, don’t want to be enslaved and deceived by the CCP like our elders. Under the rule of the CCP, there is no human dignity, living is like being a walking corpse. We are all just screws feeding the massive system of the Communist Party, unable to afford to live but unable to afford to die. We see the fate of being exploited like leeks for a lifetime at a glance, always ready to be exploited. We are the last generation of sacrificial lambs being exploited by the CCP, it all should come to an end!
“We, the students of the Overseas Chinese University, hung banners of ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ on the overpass, as a silent protest against the CCP on the eve of June 4th!
“This is the echo of the ‘June 4th’ Tiananmen Square incident, a banner, two words, can make the CCP tremble. I hope all students rise up, use non-cooperative means to undermine the CCP. We have hung this banner prepared for the worst. Let the compatriots at home and abroad see, there is no shortage of resisters in the country, Peng Lifah has been arrested, Fang Yirong has come, student Fang has been arrested, and in Chengdu, Mei Shilin has come…”
The information also mentioned that the protesters are endless and cannot be detained. “We students of the Overseas Chinese University have prepared to sacrifice for freedom. CCP, I am not afraid of you, it’s time for everything to end.”
The website of the Overseas Chinese University shows that this CCP-affiliated university, located in Quanzhou and Xiamen, can award undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees, with international students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other countries.
In December last year, another CCP-managed university, the Ji’nan University Panyu Campus, appeared with someone holding flyers and taking photos. The text on the flyer reads, “Please democratic countries save China.”
Jie Lijian expressed shock and emotion when he received this information.
“I am shocked by the students’ trust in me, to the point of entrusting me with their lives and fortunes. In the current situation in the country, not to mention hanging banners, even raising a blank paper would lead to arrest, being dealt with for ‘provocation,’ or permanent disappearance,” he said. “Today we see more and more young people breaking through the CCP’s brutal white terror, sacrificing their lives for the early arrival of Chinese democracy, this is what the CCP fears the most.”
Jie Lijian believes that the political regime of the CCP is externally strong but internally weak, with “cancer cells spreading,” and has long been in decline. Now with the collapse of the Chinese economy, intense infighting within the Party, graduates facing unemployment upon graduation, many people living in despair, spreading feelings of hopelessness throughout society, and many Party officials understanding that the CCP organization is in dire straits, they are all preparing their own way out.
“Any sudden factor could become the final nail in the coffin for burying the CCP,” he said. ◇
