“【Mark Timespace】India Taiwan Seek to Purchase F-35, Russia Making Efforts to Sell Su-57”

On Thursday afternoon, February 13, President Trump met with visiting Indian Prime Minister Modi at the White House. After a closed-door meeting, the two held a press conference. During the conference, Trump told reporters: “We will increase military sales to India by billions of dollars. We are also paving the way to ultimately provide India with F-35 stealth fighters.”

Before this meeting, the India Aviation Expo opened on February 10, with a focus on fifth-generation fighter jets. The US F-35 fighter not only had static displays but also performed aerial maneuvers, while Russia’s latest Su-57 fighter also showcased. During this India Aviation Expo, the Indian military publicly displayed a full-scale model of the next-generation stealth Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), announcing that the AMCA could conduct its first test flight as early as 2028.

Due to China having equipped the J-20 and the possibility of exporting the J-35 fighter to Pakistan, India, which shares border conflicts with both China and Pakistan, is in dire need of new fighter jets. Russia has been trying to sell the Su-57 to India for some time, but the Indian Air Force has not made a clear commitment to purchase yet. So far, Algeria is the only foreign buyer of the Su-57.

Regarding the US F-35 stealth fighter, the Indian Ministry of Defense stated that it is the most widely used fifth-generation fighter, integrating advanced stealth capabilities, unparalleled situational awareness, and network-centric warfare capabilities. The number of F-35s equipped far exceeds that of the Su-57, with over 1,000 units, and it is the only fifth-generation fighter globally capable of carrying nuclear weapons. It seems that the Indian Ministry of Defense holds a high regard for the F-35.

In November 2024, the Financial Times reported that Taiwan intends to submit a military procurement proposal to the United States exceeding $15 billion, including 60 F-35 fighters, 4 E-2D Advanced Hawkeye surveillance aircraft, 10 retired Ticonderoga-class cruisers, 400 Patriot missiles, and more.

These military procurement projects in India and Taiwan not only increase their military capabilities but also help reduce the trade surplus with the United States.
