Recently, a senior media personality in mainland China, Chu Chaoxin, revealed in an article that Zhang Wei, the head of the Organization Department of Suizhou City Committee in Hubei Province, was injured during a conversation with an official surnamed Xie from a certain bureau in the city. According to sources, the assailant was Xie Wei, a former director of the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Suizhou City, known as the “Internet celebrity director”.
Xie Wei had previously posed as an “ancient swordsman” in 2022, promoting cultural and tourism resources online, earning him the nickname “Internet celebrity director”. Regarding Xie Wei stepping down from his position, a staff member of the Suizhou City Culture and Tourism Bureau stated to the media on the afternoon of January 15, 2025, that the adjustment was a routine job transfer.
However, according to a report from Red Star News, sources revealed that Xie Wei was recently administratively detained for causing harm to others, with the incident occurring during discussions related to administrative job reshuffling.
The report mentioned that Chu Chaoxin recently wrote an article citing reliable sources, disclosing that on December 31 of last year, Zhang Wei, a member of the Suizhou City Committee and the head of the Organization Department, along with Left Guoli, deputy head of the Organization Department, held a conversation with an official surnamed Xie from a certain bureau in the city. During the conversation, Xie became emotionally agitated, made inflammatory remarks, and used a glass he carried with him to injure Zhang Wei. Following a police report, Xie was administratively detained for 15 days, fined 500 yuan, and held at the Suizhou City detention center.
Red Star News attempted to contact the Suizhou City detention center for verification, but staff members declined to comment citing privacy concerns.
Public records show that Xie Wei previously served as a member of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Armed Forces Department of the East City Office in Zengdu District of Suizhou City, Committee Member of the Organization, Vice Director of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Zengdu Economic Development Zone, Deputy Secretary and Executive Deputy Mayor of Wandian Town, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Office in Beijiao Office, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Congress in Luoyang Town. In December 2019, Xie Wei was appointed as Deputy County Mayor of Suixian County in Suizhou City, and in February 2022, he was promoted to the director of the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Suizhou City.
