Trump: I will never surrender after another assassination attempt

Former President Trump faced another assassination attempt on Sunday (September 15), just two months after the last incident in Pennsylvania. In a fundraising email, Trump stated that he would “never surrender.”

“I heard gunshots nearby, but before the rumors started to spiral out of control, I wanted you to hear these words first: I am safe and sound!” Trump wrote in the email sent on Sunday.

“Nothing can stop me. I will never give up! I forever love your support for me. Unity, peace, let America be great again,” Trump continued.

The incident took place at Trump’s golf course near Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The suspect has been captured and is currently detained pending trial. Security personnel discovered the gunman in the woods just two holes away from where Trump was playing golf.

Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, stated on Sunday that “gunshots were heard near President Trump, and he is safe.”

“There are no further details at the moment,” Cheung added.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated on X that the Secret Service is working with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the “protective incident involving former President Trump shortly before 2 p.m.”

The White House released a statement saying that President Biden and Vice President Harris had been briefed on the attack on former President Trump at the Trump International Golf Course.

“They breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that he is safe,” the White House said.

Vice President Harris stated on X platform on Sunday, “I have been informed of the shooting incident near former President Trump and his Florida property. I am glad he is safe and unharmed.”

“Violence has no place in America,” Harris added.

In mid-July, Trump was shot in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania, where another man attending the event was killed in the same shooting. The gunman was shot dead.
