Xu Jianguo Visits Southern California to Promote Collaboration between Jianzhong High School and Whittier High School Alumni

Former principal of Jian Guo High School and current principal of Wesley Girls’ High School, Xu Jianguo, recently embarked on a “gratitude journey” in the United States, starting with Los Angeles and then continuing to San Francisco, New York, and Boston. On June 7th (Friday), Xu Jianguo attended the annual meeting of the Jian Zhong Southern California Alumni Association, thanking the alumni for their contributions to the alma mater.

Principal Xu Jianguo has been in the education field for 38 years, serving as principal at the renowned Jian Zhong Boys’ School and the Wesley Girls’ High School. His journey has been filled with challenges. In the environment of declining birth rates and intense competition for higher education in Taiwan, Xu Jianguo hopes that Taiwanese students can broaden their international perspectives and seize more opportunities. He also hopes to draw on the successful experience of the Jian Zhong Southern California Alumni Association to establish a Wesley Girls’ High School Alumni Association and promote collaboration and exchange between the alumni of Jian Zhong and Wesley Girls’ High School.

During his first visit to the United States in 2017, Xu Jianguo’s first stop was Los Angeles, where he also attended the annual meeting of the Jian Zhong Southern California Alumni Association, leading to the establishment of alumni associations in Northern California, North Texas, North Carolina, Boston, and Houston.

Zhang Hu, president of the Jian Zhong Southern California Alumni Association, stated that Principal Xu’s support and encouragement have enabled the association to establish a scholarship program and develop it into a sustainable scholarship fund, providing approximately $8,000 in scholarships to Jian Zhong students annually.

In 2019, Xu Jianguo also participated in the annual celebration of the Southern California Alumni Association, deeply touched by the support and enthusiasm of the Southern California alumni for the alma mater. During this gratitude journey, he aims to meet with Wesley alumni in California and the East Coast, enabling alumni to understand the current situation and future development of the school. He will also visit several renowned universities, community colleges, and high schools in the United States to expand opportunities for Wesley students to engage in exchanges and further their education.
