CCP accuses the United Nations of U.S. tariff bullying, the U.S. rejects it as hypocritical.

The escalating trade war between the United States and China has dealt a heavy blow to China’s exports. As pressure mounts, Beijing has opened a new battleground in the information war at the United Nations, openly accusing Washington of tariff “bullying,” only to be rebuked as “hypocritical.”

On Wednesday, the Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, initiated a meeting at the United Nations Security Council titled “Impacts of Unilateralism and Bullying Practices on International Relations.”

During the meeting, he claimed that China “firmly supports multilateralism and international justice,” and accused the United States of using tariffs to “bully” other countries. He alleged that the U.S., under the guise of fairness, is actually subverting the international economic and trade order.

However, Beijing’s accusations have been refuted as “thieves crying thief” and hypocritical. Hillel Neuer, the executive director of United Nations Watch, stated in a release to Fox Business Channel, “Look at China (the CCP), one of the primary abusers in the world of economic coercion and human rights, yet convening a meeting at the United Nations to accuse other countries of bullying, is truly Orwellian irony.”

He further criticized the CCP, saying, “This regime has been threatening sanctions against democratic countries recognizing Taiwan, punishing countries supporting the Uighurs, and bullying its neighbors in the South China Sea. Now Beijing is attempting to hijack the United Nations to attack the United States, not for peace or development, but to protect its authoritarian power from accountability.”

A U.S. State Department spokesperson also countered on Wednesday, stating that this meeting is an example of how China has consistently manipulated “multilateral systems to support its economic, political, and security interests.”

Speaking to Fox News Digital, the spokesperson said, “China continues to be self-contradictory; claiming to support open markets, while dumping goods into the global economy at artificially low prices; stealing intellectual property and implementing unfair trade practices; China also claims to be a developing country, while weaponizing its donor status and development projects to bully developing countries.”

The spokesperson remarked that the meeting is “wasting the time of the members of the UN Security Council.” The U.S. will continue to defend its interests and confront the CCP.

Several U.S. lawmakers, including Republican Senator Rick Scott from Florida, have rebutted Beijing’s claims of U.S. global bullying.

Scott deemed the CCP’s claims “absurd,” pointing out that aside from China and Canada, countries worldwide are actively engaging in trade negotiations with the United States, which serves as evidence.

He also posted a call on X to “immediately stop funding the anti-American United Nations.”
