Brooklyn shooting injures 6 teenagers, police do not rule out gang dispute

On December 15, 2025, a large-scale shooting incident occurred in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. Two unidentified men opened fire outside an event venue, injuring six teenagers. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) held a press conference on Sunday, stating that the case is believed to be related to gang activity. The two suspects are currently on the run, and further investigation is needed to clarify the detailed motive.

The incident took place around 1:16 am outside the “Burbuja Events” venue at 2929 Atlantic Avenue. A birthday party was being held at the venue, and about 20 minutes after the party ended, some teenagers were still gathered outside when a series of gunshots rang out, causing chaos at the scene.

After receiving multiple 911 calls, officers from the 75th Precinct swiftly arrived at the scene and found six teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, with gunshot wounds. A 15-year-old girl was shot in the chest, buttocks, and legs, another 15-year-old girl was shot in the right leg, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the left arm, two 16-year-old boys were shot in the right arm and left leg respectively, and a 17-year-old boy was shot in the right leg.

Police and paramedics evacuated the wounded from the scene. The six victims were taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Kings County Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all the victims are in stable condition and not in life-threatening situations.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the police are investigating whether the incident is linked to gang activities. The two suspects, described as men wearing dark clothing, are still at large after fleeing the scene on foot.

In response to the shooting incident, Councilman Yusef Salaam expressed shock and called for enhanced community safety and youth intervention measures. He emphasized the importance of violence prevention in light of this event.

“I am deeply disturbed by the shooting on Atlantic Avenue,” Salaam said. “We must continue to invest in prevention efforts, youth support services, and accountability mechanisms to truly ensure community safety.”
