A student from a middle school in Guangxi injures classmate with a knife before jumping off a building to death.

Recently, there has been circulating news on the internet about a student at Dongxing Middle School in Dongxing City who stabbed someone before jumping off a building and tragically passed away.

According to a staff member of the Dongxing City Education Bureau in an interview with Red Star News on September 25th, on September 11th, there was indeed a student death and another student injured by a knife at Dongxing Middle School. The authorities are investigating further to determine if there was any bullying on campus.

On September 26th, the official announcement from Dongxing City stated that around 3 p.m. on September 11th, Xu suspected that Chen, Wang, and Liao were mocking him during a conversation, so he chased them with a broom, and after being stopped by the class teacher, both sides were criticized. Later in the evening during self-study time, Xu and the three mentioned individuals had another argument, leading Xu to take out a knife he had hidden in his bag and injure Chen before running to the fourth floor, climbing over the corridor railing, and jumping down. The forensic examination confirmed Xu’s death as a result of a high fall and ruled out homicide. The injured student, Chen, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The report also mentioned that there was no evidence of Xu being bullied by other students during his time at school.

However, the parent of the student who allegedly jumped off the building posted online, stating, “I am Liu Xifeng, my son Xu Yuming was in Class 21 of Grade 11 at Dongxing Middle School. He mysteriously passed away at the school on September 11th. I urge all relatives and friends to share this on various platforms for justice for my son. Thank you.”

A possible eyewitness at the scene revealed that the incident actually occurred at 8:40 p.m. during evening self-study, with the school not allowing students to leave until 9:30 after handling the situation. Additionally, a monitoring system claiming to be an “AI attendance” was installed at the school gate with over ten cameras. The school warned students about spreading rumors and mentioned that they would bear the consequences if they did.

Author Li Ying, mentioned on a certain social media platform, cited online messages claiming that the student had long been bullied on campus. Following the incident, the school immediately locked down the campus, and the police inspected students’ phones on-site. Subsequently, the school added nearly twenty monitoring and security checkpoints at the entrance, intensifying inspections of phones, cameras, and other items. Xu Yuming’s mother spoke out on social media, hoping to draw attention to the issue and seek justice for her child. However, the school has yet to respond to accusations of bullying on campus.

The incident has sparked widespread attention online. Many internet users criticized the delayed reporting, questioning why it took two weeks for the news to surface. Some expressed concerns about the safety at schools in Guangxi, wondering how a student could bring a knife and emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the underlying reasons. Local netizens in Guangxi commented that only the deceased truly knew the extent of the bullying they experienced, highlighting the prevalence of bullying in the region.
