Apple event on September 9th: iPhone 17 set to debut

On Tuesday, August 26th, Apple announced that it will be holding a new product launch event at the Apple Park in California on September 9th at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The event invitation has been extended to the media and analysts. It is expected that Apple will introduce the iPhone 17 series, including a thinner flagship model.

The theme on the invitation reads: “Awe dropping.”

Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone models in September, with this year’s model being the iPhone 17. The company also traditionally reveals new Apple Watch models in September.

The highlight of this event will be Apple’s new smartphones, including an upgraded base model, two new Pro models, and a super-thin flagship iPhone model that has undergone the most significant exterior redesign in years. Apple is also preparing to launch an upgraded version of the Apple Watch.

According to Bloomberg News, the appearance of the new standard iPhone 17 will largely follow that of the iPhone 16, but with a larger display and improved camera. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature a redesigned back panel with a larger camera area, highlighting the importance of the photography function in the devices.

The most anticipated feature is the “ultra-thin iPhone 17,” the first iPhone in years to adopt a completely new design. Its thickness will be approximately 2mm thinner than current models, emphasizing lightweight and design aesthetics. Apple believes that this design will attract new users, despite some drawbacks such as an expected reduction in battery life and only one rear camera.

Apple will also launch an upgraded Vision Pro wearable device with a faster processor, and an iPad Pro equipped with the M5 chip and a second front camera. Apple is planning to release a new HomePod mini and Apple TV set-top box as well.

Apple’s new product launches have typically been live events where executives demonstrate new features on stage. However, since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, the launch events have been prerecorded videos. Apple has stated that this year’s event will be live-streamed on its website.
