On Thursday, August 14, the state of Louisiana in the United States filed a lawsuit against the popular gaming platform Roblox, accusing the platform of facilitating the spread of child sexual abuse materials.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill alleges in the complaint that Roblox has failed to implement sufficient safety regulations on its platform to protect child users from criminals. She also accuses Roblox of failing to provide potential danger warnings to parents and child users on the platform.
Murrill posted on social media platform X, stating, “Roblox is filled with harmful content and child sexual predators because it prioritizes player growth, revenue, and profits over child safety.”
“Every parent should be aware of the evident dangers Roblox poses to their children so they can prevent unimaginable things from happening to their own kids,” she added.
According to the State Attorney General’s Office, Roblox is an online interactive gaming platform with over 80 million users who can connect in real-time.
Earlier this month, Roblox faced another lawsuit, this time from the father of a 10-year-old girl in California.
The girl was kidnapped by a man posing as a child on Roblox, and after being missing for over 12 hours, she was found and the suspect was arrested.
