On August 3rd, a knife attack occurred in Caizichi Street, Leiyang, Hunan, resulting in 2 deaths and 3 injuries according to local reports.
Around 6 pm on August 3rd, a man around 30 years old suddenly started attacking pedestrians with a knife near the entrance of Team 12 to Ruolan Elementary School in Leiyang City.
On the evening of the 3rd, Leiyang Public Security Bureau announced that an intentional injury case occurred at around 6 pm in the jurisdiction of Caizichi Street, Leiyang City, resulting in 2 deaths and 3 injuries. The suspect, 31-year-old Duan was captured and taken into custody. The injured individuals have been hospitalized and their lives are not in danger.
Local residents shared details of the crime scene online. One netizen revealed that the man also entered a nearby mahjong hall and indiscriminately attacked people. Many were caught off guard, some screamed and fled, while others attempted to stop him, resulting in chaos. The man was eventually subdued by the crowd. Most of the victims in this attack were children living nearby.
Another netizen mentioned living near Ruolan Elementary School and being outside with their child when the incident occurred. They initially thought it was a car accident due to the crowd, only to discover it was a murder scene. One of the deceased victims was the older sister of their child’s classmate.
An informed netizen stated that one of the deceased was a 2-year-old girl.
A circulating image from the scene showed a critically injured young girl lying in a pool of blood.
Another netizen shared that a 17-year-old girl was severely wounded, causing her grandmother to weep uncontrollably.
There were accounts of an 7-8-year-old child being a playmate of someone’s child, seen lying on the ground with severe injuries and eventually passing away.
During the incident, a child was injured, and the mother made an emergency call for an ambulance, but the call went unanswered for over 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived at the scene.
