On July 10th, at 9:05 a.m., Southern Airlines flight CZ6900 was scheduled to depart from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, bound for Urumqi. However, during the flight, there was a smell of burning in the cabin, prompting the aircraft to make an emergency landing at Xining Caojiabao Airport at 11:54 a.m.
According to a post by a netizen, it was reported that Southern Airlines flight CZ6900, operated by a Boeing 787, experienced the smell of burning twice and made an emergency landing at Xining Airport. Photos shared by the netizen showed the emergency exit door in the middle of the aircraft open, with passengers disembarking.
Reported by the “Southern Metropolis Daily,” on the same evening, a customer service representative at Urumqi Tianshan Airport responded that “the system showed that the reason for the emergency landing of the flight was ‘previous aircraft malfunction,’ the specific cause of the malfunction is unknown, but later it will be flown to Urumqi Airport according to plan.”
A customer service representative at Xining Caojiabao Airport responded that they have now replaced the aircraft with the same model and planned to depart at 8:35 p.m. on the same day.
Regarding the “smell of burning on the aircraft,” the customer service representative stated that they had not received any relevant notifications and were unable to provide a response.
