Mainland Chinese Actress Zhang Meng, 36, Gives Birth in Hong Kong, Starts Traditional Chinese Postpartum Care for 100 Days

36-year-old mainland Chinese actress Zhang Meng, known for her roles in dramas such as “The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber” and “The Xia Jia’s Thousand Gold,” shared a photo on Weibo on April 17 with her South Korean husband Kim Eun-sung (Xiaowu) in the delivery room along with a family portrait, announcing the birth of their son, Dylan. She addressed the baby in the swaddle, saying, “Thank you for coming.” Despite undergoing a cesarean section at an older age, she has now begun the postpartum confinement as previously announced.

Zhang Meng, who had openly struggled with infertility and anxiety, announced a successful pregnancy in September 2024. Recently, she posted a video on social media of herself and her husband visiting a postpartum care center, revealing their plan to spend 100 days in postnatal confinement in Shenzhen after giving birth in Hong Kong due to her advanced maternal age.

On April 17, Zhang Meng shared a photo on Weibo from the delivery room with her husband and newborn son, expressing her love for her son wrapped in a colorful blanket, “First meeting, Mom and Dad have loved you for so so long… Your little feet are so tiny, no wonder it took so long for you to come to Mom and Dad. Our son, Baby Dylan, thank you for coming, from now on, our world is warm and bright.”

In the photo, a radiant but exhausted Zhang Meng lies on the delivery bed with the newly born baby, while her husband Kim Eun-sung in surgical scrubs stands beside her, making a V gesture, exuding the excitement and joy of becoming a new father.

Zhang Meng’s decision to undergo a 100-day postpartum confinement has sparked discussions among netizens. She explained that this decision was made with her health in mind, aiming to fully recover and restore her well-being. According to reports from mainland media, she chose to give birth in Hong Kong before checking into a high-end postnatal care center in Shenzhen. The postpartum service package includes a million yuan worth package, as well as 56 days of professional care and a nurse-on-call service for the first hundred days.
