Renowned mainland Chinese host Zhu Dan recently revealed in her personal live stream that she has been experiencing frequent heart palpitations. To her surprise, after a visit to the hospital for a check-up, she was informed by the doctor that she has an allergy to eggs, which was hard for her to believe. On February 14th, the topic “Zhu Dan discovered allergy to eggs after eating them for over 40 years” trended on Weibo.
During a recent live stream, Zhu Dan shared with her fans, “The frequency of my heart palpitations has been increasing recently, and I was afraid that there might be something wrong with my body, so I went to the hospital for a check-up.” The results showed that she is allergic to eggs, and the doctor advised her to avoid eating any food containing eggs.
Upon learning of the results, Zhu Dan found it hard to accept the news, saying, “I was told about this last year during a check-up, but I didn’t believe it, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. After all, I have been eating eggs for over 40 years and never thought I would be allergic to them.”
According to Zhu Dan’s recounting, the doctor explained that she has a chronic allergy, and as the allergy levels increase, her body’s reactions become stronger. With age, the body’s immunity decreases, and the allergic reactions manifest, such as the nodules forming on her thyroid and lungs, as she described. She also disclosed that she underwent 90 allergy source tests and found out that she is allergic not only to egg whites and yolks but also to sorghum. Fortunately, after she stopped consuming egg-containing foods for three months following the egg allergy diagnosis, her heart palpitations disappeared.

At 43 years old, Zhu Dan has worked as a host on Zhejiang TV, Anhui TV, and Hunan TV, hosting shows like “I Love Lyrics,” “Unstoppable,” and “Women as Songs.” In April of this year, she appeared on the variety show “Riding the Wind 2024.” In 2017, she married actor Zhou Yiweng and they have two children together.
One remarkable aspect is Zhu Dan’s multiple verbal slip-ups during the “COSMO Fashion Festival” in 2019. For instance, she mistakenly pronounced Zhang Li-na as Zhou Li-na, confused Gulnazar with Dilraba Dilmurat and called her “Dilraba’s mom,” and mistakenly called mainland Chinese actress Lin Yun “Yuner” (a member of Girls’ Generation). Although these verbal slip-ups caused controversies, just a week later, Zhu Dan mistakenly called Taiwanese young artist Chen Linong “Zhao Linong” at another event, prompting criticism from netizens regarding her professionalism.
