Adam Adams Declines Criticism of Trump Again, Saying There Are More Important Issues to Focus on

New York City Mayor Adams was once again questioned about whether former President Trump is a fascist during a routine press conference on October 29. Adams stated that there are more important matters in New York City to focus on, and being asked such a question is insulting to him, therefore he refused to comment.

Prior to this, on October 27, at a large rally held at Madison Square Garden (MSG), Trump once again stated that Adams was indicted for political reasons and praised Adams for not criticizing him. In response to Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris criticizing Trump as a fascist, Adams stated on October 26 that Trump is not, mentioning his knowledge of what Hitler did and what a fascist regime looks like.

When asked by reporters again on the 29th, about his Democratic colleagues believing that he should not defend Trump and going against the party, Adams stated that when there are many more important issues to focus on in the city, being asked whether someone is a fascist or Hitler is insulting to him and he does not want to comment on such foolish topics. He added that everyone rejects such remarks because after the election day, the United States still must be a union, not a divided country.

Adams was asked about his legal defense team believing that Trump being elected president would be the best outcome for him in the indictment. Adams replied that his legal defense team would not say so, they believe that facts will speak for themselves.

Regarding whether he should distance himself from Trump, Adams stated that his goal is to stay away from meaningless quarrels and focus on managing the city. When pressed further about his reluctance to criticize Trump and whether he is seeking a pardon, Adams declined to answer.

Recently, there has been not only lack of hostility between Trump and Adams, but even a very good interaction. Trump reiterated on October 27 at the large rally at Madison Square Garden, that Adams was indicted for political reasons and praised Adams. Trump told the crowd of nearly twenty thousand supporters that Adams faced “quite terrible treatment” for saying that New York City could not continue to receive an influx of immigrants, only receiving free hospitality and flight upgrades from a Turkish businessman, and was indicted for a serious crime. Trump told the crowd that Adams is “really great,” and said the Democrats should not call him a dictator because it is not true. Trump praised Adams for speaking very well.

During a routine press conference on the 29th, Adams also dismissed the viewpoint that Trump should not hold rallies at Madison Square Garden, strongly disagreeing, and saying that this is America, this is New York, and Trump has the right to rally and convey their message to the public.
