The White House: Trump Committing to Tariff Profits, Giving Americans $2000

The White House announced on Wednesday (November 12th) that President Trump is committed to fulfilling his promise to distribute $2000 in bonuses to low to middle-income Americans using funds from the government’s tariff revenue.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump’s economic team is studying how to implement this plan.

During the White House press briefing on Wednesday, a reporter questioned whether Trump’s promise to give bonuses to the public will be fulfilled.

The reporter asked, “Trump talked about distributing $2000 checks to American citizens. Earlier this year, he also talked about distributing a bonus from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). That did not materialize; should American citizens expect this proposed $2000? Is the White House committed to implementing this proposal?”

Leavitt replied, “The White House is committed to implementing this proposal. Yes. We are currently exploring all legal options to get this done. I don’t have a timeline or more details to provide you, but I can confirm to you that the President has made it clear that he wants to fulfill this proposal. Therefore, his economic advisory team is researching this matter, and we will provide an update when we have new developments.”

Trump also posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday, saying, “Anyone against tariffs is a fool,” and stating, “We are generating tens of billions of dollars in revenue, and will soon begin paying off our colossal $37 trillion debt. Record investments are pouring into America, factories and plants are springing up everywhere. Everyone (excluding high-income earners!) will receive at least $2000 in bonuses.”

The Supreme Court is currently hearing an appeal regarding Trump’s new tariff policy to determine whether he has the authority to impose tariffs on countries worldwide under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

On Monday at the Oval Office in the White House, Trump reiterated to reporters that if the Supreme Court rules his new tariff measures as unlawful, the United States will face an economic and national security disaster.

Trump previously stated that his tariff measures are legal and necessary, implementing them not only to prevent other countries from taking advantage of tariffs against the United States but also out of the necessity for national security.
