Recently, in Fenggang County, Guizhou Province, a 32-year-old man named Liu allegedly gave his 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter pesticide to drink, leading to the tragic death of both children due to unsuccessful rescue efforts. Following the incident, Liu attempted suicide and is currently under criminal detention by local police on suspicion of intentional homicide.
According to a report by Dahe Daily on June 12th, on May 17th of this year, the mother of the two children, Huang Jia (alias), filed for divorce due to disputes in their marriage. A heated conflict arose between the couple, during which Liu tied up Huang Jia with a rope and kept her confined at home. The next day, Huang Jia managed to escape when Liu was not paying attention.
On May 20th, Liu suddenly agreed to the divorce, and after registering the divorce procedures at the Civil Affairs Bureau, the two entered a 30-day cooling-off period.
On May 21st, Liu tied up Huang Jia again, and threatened to “die together” by using pesticide he had prepared beforehand. In order to calm him down, Huang Jia pretended to change her mind about the divorce, prompting Liu to take her to work. That same day, with a colleague’s company, Huang Jia reported the incident to the police and fled to Zunyi. Along the way, she informed her family in Guangdong about the situation.
In the early hours of May 22nd, Huang Jia’s brother, Huang Peng, received a suicide note from Liu, in which he wrote: “Tell your sister to come and collect the children’s bodies.”
Huang Peng stated that when the police arrived at the scene, the two children were already showing symptoms of poisoning and despite medical efforts, they tragically died. Liu’s suicide attempt was unsuccessful, and after receiving treatment, he is now out of danger. As reported by a previous article by Xinjing Daily, Liu has been criminally detained by the police on suspicion of intentional homicide.
Huang Jia expressed, “The tiger doesn’t eat its cubs.” She described returning home after the incident to find that the pillows had been torn apart by the children. “I don’t know how he (Liu) could have been so heartless at that moment. Our daughter’s eyes hadn’t even closed.”
According to Huang Jia, she and Liu had been married for 9 years, raising a son and a daughter while working in Guangdong for an extended period. During this time, Liu had been unemployed multiple times and had a habit of gambling at internet cafes.
In May 2024, the couple returned to their hometown in Guizhou from Guangdong due to Liu’s long-term unemployment. To make a living, in June of the same year, Huang Jia signed a contract with a live-streaming company to earn income through tips, which eventually sparked conflicts in their marriage. Liu’s father believed that Huang Jia’s attire and actions during live streaming were provocative, leading his son to suspect her of infidelity.
Huang Jia admitted that in order to maintain good relationships with her tipping fans, she occasionally used affectionate terms with them. However, she never met with fans in person outside of work, as the company had strict guidelines prohibiting offline meetings.
Huang Peng mentioned that the bodies of the two children have been cremated. Currently, his sister’s mental state is poor, affecting her ability to work normally. They have engaged a lawyer to seek justice and proper punishment for the perpetrator.
