According to an official statement from China Southern Airlines, on the 31st, flight CZ6850 from Hangzhou to Shenzhen had a passenger’s camera battery and power bank emitting smoke. The crew immediately decided to return to the departure airport, and the flight safely landed 15 minutes after takeoff.

Due to frequent incidents of power banks catching fire on aircraft, several airlines in various countries and regions have banned the use of power banks during flights.
According to netizens, power banks also have a limited lifespan, and they recommend checking if your power bank has exceeded its usage period.
Furthermore, some netizens advise, “When buying electronic devices, make sure to look for the 3C certification mark and choose products that comply with national standards. Never purchase products without proper certifications.”
