Queen’s district man stabbed cyclist to death just because he was hit by a bicycle

In Queens, a man is facing murder charges after fatally stabbing a cyclist who accidentally bumped into him with a bike. The incident occurred on April 14th around 12:16 a.m. at the intersection of Junction Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue in Corona. The suspect, 33-year-old Nelson Torres from Corona, has been indicted on charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, robbery, and possession of a weapon. The victim was 22-year-old Anderson David Archila Martinez from Spring Valley.

According to the prosecutors, the altercation started when Martinez accidentally hit Torres’ backpack while riding his bike. This led to an argument between the two, resulting in Torres pushing Martinez off the bike and stealing it. Martinez called the police and chased after Torres, who eventually stabbed him in the abdomen before fleeing. Martinez was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Torres has been ordered to remain in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for September 3rd, by Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz expressed sadness over the tragic loss of a young life, condemning the killing as unjustifiable.

If convicted of murder, the suspect could face life imprisonment. The incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about violence in the area. The court proceedings will continue to unfold as justice is sought for the victim and his loved ones.

The case serves as a reminder of the dire consequences of violence and the importance of seeking peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The Queens community mourns the loss of Martinez and hopes for a fair and just legal process to hold the perpetrator accountable for his actions.
