On April 28th, the 33-year-old cancer-fighting blogger “Little Yang Brother” from mainland China passed away. His sister posted an obituary on social media. His real name was Yang Guicheng, a internet celebrity from Zhaotong, Yunnan Province, who gained attention for documenting his cancer battle through short videos.
According to his sister, on April 28th at 2:27 am, “Little Yang Brother” passed away at the age of 33, leaving his family in deep sorrow. Since April 2023, he had been experiencing dizziness and sought medical help from multiple hospitals. It wasn’t until July when he was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer. Doctors mentioned that the prognosis for this condition was poor. In just two years, he succumbed to the disease.
His sister shared that the divorced single father couldn’t bear to part from his daughter. Before his passing, he waited for his daughter to return home from school, taking one last look at her before leaving this world.
Just over ten days prior, his daughter celebrated her 11th birthday. In a video captured by Yang’s sister, the daughter presented a birthday cake to her father, who laid on a chair with a weary expression, unable to respond to her repeated calls of “Dad, Dad…”
His sister further revealed that a month before his passing, “Little Yang Brother” lost his ability to speak. The family spent over 400,000 yuan for his medical expenses, borrowed from relatives and received donations from compassionate strangers. They still owe 200,000 yuan.
