Hurricane Hits Southeastern US, Disrupting Communications; Trump Invites Musk to Launch Starlink

Hurricane “Helene” has hit the southeastern coast of the United States, resulting in at least 100 deaths and over 2 million households and businesses losing power. Republican presidential candidate Trump visited the hurricane-ravaged areas in Georgia on Monday (September 30th), where he mentioned his conversation with Musk and their cooperation using the “Starlink” technology to address the communication issues in the disaster zone.

During his visit to Valdosta, Georgia on Monday, Trump mentioned his talk with Elon Musk and invited him to assist in restoring communication in the communities affected by Hurricane “Helene”. He also stated that Musk, as one of his important supporters, would provide help when needed.

“We hope that Starlink can connect the communication in the disaster zone because these places have no means of communication at all,” Trump said. “We will have Starlink go in there as soon as possible since they have absolutely no way to communicate. Our hearts are with the entire region, we stand with you, and we will support you until you no longer need help.”

Hurricane “Helene” made landfall in Florida last Thursday and swept through areas in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, including key swing states that could potentially decide the outcome of the presidential election.

President Biden stated on Monday that the government will do everything possible to help the victims through this difficult time, working around the clock and mobilizing all available resources to support the emergency response efforts in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. He plans to visit North Carolina in the coming days to assess the situation and will request additional funding from Congress to provide federal assistance to those who have lost their homes and businesses.

The storm has already caused over a hundred deaths, hundreds of missing individuals, and numerous communities are facing issues such as flooding and power outages.

With only five weeks left until election day, both Trump and the Democratic presidential candidate Harris have halted their respective campaign rallies to visit the disaster areas and assure the swing state voters affected by the disaster that they are the most capable candidates to provide aid.

Harris, who was in Las Vegas over the weekend for campaign rallies, has decided to cut short her schedule and return to Washington on Monday to receive briefings on the hurricane. She stated, “Over 33,000 federal personnel have been mobilized. We are deploying food, water, and generators, and working hard to restore water and power.”
