Anhui Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee Secretary-General Du Yan’an surrendered himself on June 8, 2026, to face investigation. Du Yan’an had long been in charge of the Bozhou City in Anhui Province. In recent years, the political landscape in Bozhou has been undergoing continuous cleansing, with the proteges promoted by Du Yan’an falling one after another.
According to the announcement from the Anhui Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, on June 8, 2026, Du Yan’an, a member of the Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law. He took the initiative to surrender himself and accept the investigation.
Du Yan’an, born in November 1966 in Dangshan County, Suzhou City, Anhui Province, graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Anhui University in 1988. He has held various positions in the office of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress, including Deputy Director and Director of the Secretariat Office, Director of the Office, Deputy Director of the Office, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, Deputy Secretary-General (department-level), and member of the Party Committee of the institution. From December 2014 to April 2025, he served as Deputy Secretary of the Bozhou City Committee, Mayor, and Secretary of the City Committee in Anhui Province. In January 2025, he became the Secretary-General of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee, serving as the major steward of Liang Yanshun, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress.
Du Yan’an had long been in charge of the governance of Bozhou City. He was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Bozhou City Committee in December 2014, promoted to Mayor in July 2016, and served as Secretary of the City Committee from July 2021 to April 2025. During his tenure as the Mayor of Bozhou City, Ha Wei, former Deputy Director of the Municipal People’s Congress, was investigated on February 26, 2026. Ha Wei, a Hui woman born in October 1961 in Bozhou, previously held positions such as Deputy District Chief of Qiaocheng District, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Office of the Urban and Rural Planning Commission, and Secretary-General of the Municipal People’s Congress. While Du Yan’an was the Mayor of Bozhou, Ha Wei served as Deputy Director and member of the City Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress from 2017 to 2020.
On January 11, 2026, Xue Bing, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Mayor of the Bozhou Municipal Government, was investigated during his term of office. Xue Bing, born in March 1970 in Bozhou City, Anhui Province, previously served as a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Cultural Tourism Bureau, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director. During Du Yan’an’s tenure as the Mayor and Secretary of the City Committee of Bozhou, Xue Bing was successively promoted to Secretary of the Party Committee of the Bozhou Cultural Tourism Holdings Group, Chairman, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau, and Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Bozhou High-tech Zone, and Deputy Mayor of Bozhou City.
Additionally, Du Yan’an’s partner, Deng Zhenxiao, Deputy Secretary of the Bozhou City Committee and Mayor, was taken down during his term in November 2022. Gao Chuan, former Level Two Inspector of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference and former Deputy Secretary and District Governor of Qiaocheng District in Bozhou, was investigated in March 2025. Wu Bin, former member of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Luxin County Committee, was taken down in October 2023. Chen Xianfeng, former Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference and former Director of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Bozhou City, was investigated in February 2023. Cheng Xiulue, former Secretary-General of the Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee of Bozhou City, was taken down in April 2022. Gao Chuan, Wu Bin, Chen Xianfeng, and Cheng Xiulue were all subordinates promoted and favored by Du Yan’an during his governance in Bozhou.
Other officials in Bozhou City who were investigated in 2026 included Wang Feng, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Botou Yordu Rural Commercial Bank Co., Ltd. (January 4, 2026), Li Zhenbiao, Party Committee Secretary and Director of the City Management Bureau of Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City (February 2, 2026), Zhu Jingkui, Former Party Committee Secretary and Director of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City (March 13, 2026), Zhang Kaimao, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Shatu Town, Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City (March 27, 2026), and Niu Guang, Level Three Researcher of the Bozhou High-tech Industry Development Zone (April 3, 2026), among others.
