American Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) host Savannah Guthrie announced on Tuesday that her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million to gather information that could help find her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old woman disappeared from her home in Arizona over three weeks ago.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, the host of NBC’s morning television program “Today” shared the news. Guthrie expressed in the video, “It’s been 24 days since our mother was taken from her bed in the dark of night. Since then, every hour, every minute, every long night has been excruciating. Worrying for her, fearing for her, in pain for her, and most of all, missing her terribly.”
Although Guthrie acknowledged that her mother, believed to have been kidnapped, may no longer be alive, she maintained hope for a miracle. “We still believe. We still believe. We still believe that she can come home,” she said.
“We need to know where she is. We need her to come home,” Guthrie added. “For this reason, our family is offering a reward of up to $1 million to gather any information that could lead us to find her.”
“Please help us bring our beloved mother home,” she pleaded in the video, urging, “Please be a beacon of light in the darkness.”
Nancy Guthrie’s family reported that on February 1, the elderly woman went missing from her home in the northern part of Tucson, Pima County, Arizona the previous night. Both the Pima County authorities and the FBI believe she was forcibly taken from her home. Surveillance footage captured by a doorbell camera at the Guthrie residence on the morning she disappeared showed a masked armed individual at the front door attempting to obstruct the camera.
Initially, the FBI offered a $50,000 reward, which was later raised to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest of any suspects.
On Tuesday, the FBI announced Guthrie family’s reward of $1 million on their official social media account, clarifying, “The $100,000 reward provided by the FBI remains in place.”
