Recently, a “Residence Inn Middletown Goshen” located near Route 211 opened in Goshen, Middletown, New York. Local dignitaries and business leaders, including the Orange County Executive and the Mayor of Middletown, gathered to congratulate the hotel investors, Pureland Hospitality LLC’s President and private banker, Jim Zhang.
According to Mr. Zhang, he moved to Middletown from Canada in 2018 because his three children were attending school there. He eventually left his banking job in Canada and purchased his first hotel in Middletown, New York.
“The first Hilton hotel did well, so we decided to acquire this hotel as well. My partner and I really like the investment environment in Middletown, Orange County,” Mr. Zhang said. “Today, government officials at all levels are here to show their support, indicating a friendly business environment that will promote further investments.”
With their first hotel, “Home2 Suites Middletown,” Pureland Hospitality LLC has invested over $50 million in Orange County, employing more than 70 local workers. Jim Zhang stated that this new investment demonstrates their long-term commitment to local economic development.
After examining the investment environment in New York State, Mr. Zhang and his partner found that Orange County ranks high in population influx among nearly 60 counties statewide. This indicates a broad economic outlook, prompting them to showcase their skills in the area.
“Our investment aims to create jobs. We hire local employees because we enjoy living here; this is our home,” he said. “This is also our community’s shared home, and we want to work together with everyone to develop this place.”
The opening ceremony on May 8 was attended by Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano, Wallkill Town Mayor George Serrano, and numerous local business and community leaders.
County Executive Neuhaus proudly presented the local investment environment during the opening ceremony. He mentioned the increasing demand for attractions and hotels as the population in Orange County grows. He highlighted future investments, such as expanding the brand outlet Woodbury Commons and various tourism projects in the film industry. He emphasized, “In short, this is a place worth visiting.”
Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano congratulated Jim Zhang wholeheartedly. “They are an excellent team managing such facilities,” DeStefano told NTD. “They have played a significant role in the economic development and tourism industry in this area… We need these facilities, the more, the better. This will lead to better economic development locally, attracting more people to come and enjoy everything that happens here.”
Jim Zhang mentioned their plans to acquire a rundown warehouse, Fort Knox, in the heart of Middletown to convert it into a new Hilton hotel.
