Professor Couple from Shenyang Conservatory of Music Die on the Same Day in a Sudden Accident

On July 15th, Professor Bai Liping from Shenyang Conservatory of Music and her husband, Associate Professor Lin Dagong, passed away due to a sudden accident. The official obituary did not disclose specific details, but it was rumored online that heavy rain in Shenyang caused water to overflow into their home, leading to electrocution.

The retirement office of Shenyang Conservatory of Music issued an obituary on July 15th for Lin Dagong, former Associate Professor, and Bai Liping, former Vice Dean of the Drama and Film Academy and former Vice Dean of the School of Modern Music and a member of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (民革). They both tragically passed away in the same incident. Lin Dagong was 66 years old, while Bai Liping was 63.

On the morning of July 17th, a funeral service was held at the Funeral Parlor of Hunnan for the couple.

According to Shenyang Evening News, Lin Dagong was a member of the Communist Party of China and had long served in the performance department of the conservatory, holding the title of Associate Professor. His wife, Bai Liping, held multiple roles, being a member of the Democratic Revolutionary Party and had served as Vice Dean of the Drama and Film Academy and Vice Dean of the School of Modern Music.

The obituary from Shenyang Conservatory of Music did not disclose the specific details of the sudden accident that befell Lin Dagong and Bai Liping. Some online rumors speculated that it may be related to water leakage and electrocution caused by the heavy rain.

On July 13th, Shenyang City issued a red rainstorm warning, with severe heavy rainfall sweeping across the city. The main urban areas experienced widespread severe flooding, with water levels reaching chest-high on pedestrians in many places. Numerous vehicles were submerged and stalled, leading to partial transportation paralysis in some areas. Schools, businesses, factories, transportation, and operations were halted throughout the city.

Severe flooding affected many areas in Liaoning Province. Videos and photos circulating on social media showed deep water accumulation on some roads in Shenyang, with many vehicles submerged. A local Shenyang resident captured footage of their backyard with water levels surpassing window height, where small fish could be seen swimming in the flooded area.
