Last year on March 18th, Republic of China Vice President Xiao Meiqin visited the Czech Republic and was followed by Chinese Communist Foreign Ministry personnel, narrowly avoiding a car accident. The Presidential Office of the Republic of China and Mainland Affairs Council strongly condemned this incident on the 26th.
According to a report on June 25th from Czech Radio’s website “iROZHLAS,” the Czech intelligence department’s investigation concluded that when Republic of China Vice President Xiao Meiqin visited the Czech Republic in 2024, an incident where her vehicle was almost rear-ended was not an accident but a deliberate plan by the Chinese Communist Embassy.
Presidential spokesperson Guo Yahui hosted a press conference after a meeting of the Presidential Office’s National Defense Resilience Committee on the evening of the 26th, expressing that Taiwan’s security agencies were fully aware of the situation and sincerely thanked the Czech Republic for their full assistance during Xiao Meiqin’s visit and their diligent and professional efforts to ensure her safety.
Guo Yahui emphasized, “We strongly condemn the Chinese Communist Party for violating international rules, especially for engaging in unlawful behaviors that bring trouble, risks, and dangers to the international community.”
The Mainland Affairs Council of the Republic of China released a press statement today (27th), strongly condemning the Chinese Embassy personnel in the Czech Republic for deliberately attacking Vice President Xiao’s convoy in March last year and demanding that China provide an explanation and a public apology.
In response to the recent confirmation by the Czech Intelligence Agency that when Vice President Xiao visited the Czech Republic in March last year as Vice President-elect, Chinese Embassy personnel monitored, searched, and even attempted to ram the car, posing a serious threat to Vice President Xiao and her accompanying personnel.
The Mainland Affairs Council vehemently protests and strongly condemns the heinous actions of the Chinese Communist Party, demanding that China immediately provide an explanation and a public apology.
The Mainland Affairs Council stated, “The Chinese Communist Party repeatedly disregards the will of the Taiwanese people, conspires violence threats against the vice head of state elected through our democratic elections, even attempting terrorist threats before the President and Vice President take office, not only fully exposing the violent nature of the Chinese Communist regime but also demonstrating a lack of sincere goodwill to communicate with the democratically elected government of Taiwan.”
The Mainland Affairs Council emphasized that the Beijing authorities should immediately publicly explain and apologize to Taiwan and the international community for these uncivilized actions that violate international norms and endanger personal safety, promising to cease all harassment and intimidation of Taiwanese officials and citizens.
The Mainland Affairs Council called on the international community to jointly condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s authoritarian expansion and its arbitrary implementation of terrorist threats in other countries, urging China to abide by and follow international norms and not become a troublemaker for the international community.
