Yè Tóng Responds to Alleged Incident with Overzealous Fan, Praised for High Emotional Intelligence.

On April 15, Hong Kong artist Yip Tung, who participated in the mainland variety show “Riding the Wind 2025,” encountered an unexpected incident after the event ended. A fervent fan broke through the security line, forcibly holding onto Yip Tung who was already in the car, refusing to let her leave, causing a brief moment of chaos. However, Yip Tung, who remained calm, got out of the car and embraced the fan, continuously reassuring the security guards by saying, “It’s alright.”

Recently, Yip Tung has garnered attention for her participation in the show “Riding the Wind 2025,” where at the age of 62, she challenged difficult singing and dancing segments and was praised for her performance being comparable to that of younger artists. In the latest episode of the show, Yip Tung encountered a fan approaching her as she was about to get on the car. As the car door was not yet closed, Yip Tung kindly shook hands with the fan, but to her surprise, the robust female fan tightly held onto Yip Tung, even when security guards tried to intervene.

Despite allegedly being pulled out of the car, Yip Tung maintained an elegant smile and warmly embraced the excited fan, calming her emotions and repeatedly telling the security guards, “It’s alright.” Only after the fan was taken away did Yip Tung get back into the car and leave the scene, waving goodbye before departing.

The video of this incident quickly went viral, leaving netizens speechless over the fact that two security guards by the car could not prevent the situation, witnessing Yip Tung being forcibly pulled out of the car after a simple handshake, with additional staff rushing out of the car to help diffuse the situation.

Netizens were shocked by the extreme behavior of the fan and expressed concern for Yip Tung’s well-being. Seeing the public opinion escalate, Yip Tung took to Weibo on April 16 to thank everyone for their concern, stating that she was not frightened, “Since you all were at a distance and did not hear what the passionate fan said to me, she did not pull me out of the car. It was because I was moved by her words that I came down to hug her.”

She also mentioned that the staff protected her well, and the fan sincerely apologized afterward. In her post, she urged against irrational actions and words, emphasizing the importance of not judging solely based on images or videos, as sometimes what our eyes see may not depict the full truth. She thanked her fans for their continued support throughout.

Netizens flooded the comments section, praising Yip Tung for being “kind and forgiving,” having a “heartwarming presence,” and “caring for every aspect of feelings.”

At 62 years old this year, Yip Tung won the Best Actress award at the 3rd Hong Kong Film Awards in 1983 for her role in the comedy film “Happy Ghost III.” In 1989, she won the Best Supporting Actress at the 9th Hong Kong Film Awards for the film “My Heart Is that Eternal Rose.” Yip Tung, known for her ability to play male roles, portrayed “Xu Xian” alongside Joey Wong in “A Chinese Ghost Story.” In a stage play of “King Lear,” she made a striking entrance with a white hairdo, portraying the lead character purely through physical performance without any dialogue, earning praise for her outstanding acting skills from the audience.
