“May Day” Holiday First Day, Amusement Park Equipment Catches Fire in Nanning.

On the first day of the “May Day” holiday in China (May 1st), a fire suddenly broke out on the drop tower ride at Fantawild Adventure Park in Nanning, Guangxi. Fortunately, there were no passengers on the ride when the incident occurred.

According to a video posted by a netizen on social media in the afternoon of May 1st, equipment inside Fantawild Adventure Park in Nanning, Guangxi caught fire, creating chaos at the scene.

Witnesses reported to Tencent News that the fire accident happened on the drop tower ride. Visitors at the scene mentioned that while the ride was operating, flames suddenly emerged from the decorative light on the left side of the equipment on the second floor, rapidly spreading with thick smoke and triggering alarms. Park staff promptly guided visitors to evacuate.

Video footage shows flames licking upwards and quickly engulfing the top of the structure. People at the scene warned onlookers, “It’s too dangerous, hurry and leave.” The person who posted the video stated, “We just got off the ride and started filming when this happened. Fortunately, all the visitors had already disembarked, and no one was hurt.”

In the early hours of May 2nd, a statement was released by the park’s official account, explaining that at 18:28 on May 1st, a short circuit at the height of 8.8 meters on the left side decorative light of the second floor of the Space Shuttle ride at Fantawild Nanning caused a fire and smoke. By 18:56, the open flame had been extinguished, and no injuries were reported, with no impact on other attractions within the park.

On the morning of May 2nd, park staff confirmed that the drop tower ride had been suspended for the day, while other attractions in the park were operating normally.
