A yak recently charged into the Gansu National Ethnic Institute, causing students to scatter and flee in fear, with some directly crossing over the railing next to the playground to seek refuge. This incident quickly went viral on November 29.
The video of the yak wandering on the school playground and charging towards the students circulated on mainland Chinese social media. In the video, a yak runs towards a group of students on the school playground, with one male student fleeing and crossing over the railing at the edge of the playground to avoid the yak.
The individual who posted the video revealed to Jiemu News on the 29th that the yak made a round and then left without harming anyone, stating that the post was meant for entertainment purposes and declined further interviews.
A teacher from the Gansu National Ethnic Institute mentioned to the media that there have been sightings of yaks from nomadic herders around the school vicinity, but they had not heard of a yak entering the campus.
Many netizens joked after seeing the news, speculating that the yak might have wanted to attend school or was just coming in for a stroll to look around without intending to harm anyone.
However, netizen “hd62046178” cautioned everyone, stating, “Don’t think that herbivores are docile. Yaks, like camels, belong to the category of fierce animals.”
On October 8 in a previous incident, a video surfaced of a cow charging into a school in Liangshan, Sichuan, during the night. The scene was dark, with the cow standing on the playground with no students around but the background noise of students could be heard. Eventually, school staff used an SUV to knock down the cow, with the video indicating that no one was harmed by the cow.
