4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Riverside County, Southern California Area Feels Tremors

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook near Corona, Riverside County, Southern California on Wednesday afternoon, May 1st. The earthquake disrupted the Angels-Phillies game held in Anaheim.

The earthquake struck at 1:49 pm with its epicenter located approximately 9 kilometers southwest of Corona at a depth of 1.5 kilometers. Initially reported as a 4.5 magnitude, it was later revised down to 4.1.

The impact of the earthquake was felt across a wide area, including West Los Angeles, Long Beach, Orange County, and even as far as Santa Clarita.

At 2:36 pm, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) stated in a report that, “No significant damage has been found, and there have been no reports of serious injuries.”

On Tuesday, April 30th, the same region experienced several smaller earthquakes, including two 2.8 magnitude quakes between 7:30 and 7:40 pm and a 2.5 magnitude quake around 2 pm.
