US Military Strikes Back, Destroys Iranian Radar and Drone Facilities

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Sunday (May 31) that the US military launched a series of “defensive strikes” against military targets inside Iran over the weekend. This operation was in response to Iran’s previous actions of shooting down a US unmanned drone in international waters and airspace. The targets of the strikes included Iranian radars and unmanned drone command and control facilities.

According to a statement released by the US military, the strike occurred on Saturday and Sunday, targeting radar facilities and unmanned drone command and control sites in Goruk and Qeshm Island of Iran.

The Central Command described it as a “measured and carefully planned” operation aimed at responding to Iran’s recent aggressive actions, including the downing of a US MQ-1 unmanned drone while it was on a mission in international waters and airspace.

The Central Command stated, “US fighter jets quickly responded, destroying Iran’s air defense systems, a ground control station, as well as two one-way attack drones that posed a clear threat to vessels transiting through the area’s waters.”

The US side announced that no US military personnel were injured in this incident. The Central Command emphasized that during the current ceasefire period, they will “continue to protect American assets and interests in response to Iran’s unjustified acts of aggression.”

In fact, last week, both the US and Iran launched attacks against each other. The US military shot down multiple Iranian attack drones over the Strait of Hormuz and targeted a ground drone control station near the port of Abbas.

Subsequently, Iran launched retaliatory attacks targeting a US Air Force base in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti military confirmed the successful interception of enemy missiles, but the debris fell on the base facilities, indicating that the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East remains fragile and the situation remains volatile.
