5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Maduo County, Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai

On January 8th, 2025, at 15:44, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Ma Duo County in Guoluo Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China. The epicenter was located at 34.79 degrees north latitude and 97.51 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 14 kilometers. As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damage from the quake.

Prior to this event, on January 7th at 9:05 a.m., an intense earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale hit Dingri County in Shigatse City, Tibet. The quake had a shallow depth of only 10 kilometers and has tragically resulted in 126 fatalities and 188 injuries, including 28 severe cases.
