On May 31st, in Changli County, Hebei Province, a large truck collided with an electric vehicle while making a right turn, resulting in the deaths of a mother and child. Witnesses at the scene claimed that the electric vehicle’s battery caught fire and ignited the truck.
Recently, a video surfaced on social media posted by a netizen claiming that a traffic accident occurred in Changli County, Hebei Province on May 31st at noon. The large truck collided with an electric vehicle, causing the two individuals on the electric vehicle to fall to the ground and then be run over by the truck’s wheels, sparking attention on the internet.
According to a report by “Huashang Daily & Da Feng News” on June 2nd, the accident took place on the Changli County National Highway Shan Shen Line (G205). Surveillance footage from vehicles near the scene of the incident showed that it occurred around 1:55 pm on May 31st. Two individuals were riding the electric vehicle on the right side of the large truck. The truck failed to notice the electric vehicle in time while making a right turn, resulting in a collision. After the collision, the truck did not stop in time and completely ran over the electric vehicle before coming to a halt.
Another video showed that shortly after the traffic accident, the large truck caught fire, with the driver’s cabin being completely destroyed.
On June 2nd, several shop owners in the vicinity of the incident confirmed the accident to reporters from the media. One shop owner mentioned that the two individuals on the electric vehicle were suspected to have been crushed to death, and the truck caught fire after the electric vehicle’s battery ignited. Reports from the Changli County Funeral Home confirmed that the mother and child died in the accident.
According to the report, on the morning of June 2nd, reporters contacted the Changli County Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Detachment, and the staff mentioned that interview requests needed to be cleared through the county bureau’s political work department. The head of the political work department of the Changli County Public Security Bureau stated that they could not accept interviews. Subsequently, reporters contacted the Changli County Fire and Rescue Brigade, and the personnel stated that they would respond to the reporters after verification. As of the time of writing, no response had been received.
