On the evening of June 18, a serious accident occurred on the Qingyin Expressway (Qingdao, Shandong to Yinchuan, Ningxia) in the Lüliang section of Shanxi, involving a hazardous chemical vehicle and two coal trucks, which caught fire causing a blaze several meters long. Sadly, one of the coal truck drivers lost his life in the incident.

According to a report from the “Xin Jing Bao” on June 19, local officials stated that the flames have been extinguished, and the accident involved two coal trucks and one hazardous chemical vehicle. At the time of the incident, the hazardous chemical vehicle was carrying over 30 tons of cargo, resulting in the unfortunate death of one of the coal truck drivers. Further investigation is required to determine the specific cause of the accident.

Hazardous chemical vehicles are specialized trucks used for transporting substances with dangerous characteristics such as explosives, flammable materials, toxins, infectious substances, or corrosive materials. These types of vehicles must be approved by the transportation department and equipped with special safety devices to prevent leaks or secondary disasters during transportation.

Depending on the physical state and hazard level of the cargo, hazardous chemical vehicles are mainly divided into two categories: tank vehicles primarily used for transporting liquid (such as gasoline, diesel) or gaseous hazardous chemicals; non-tank (compartment) vehicles used for transporting solid hazardous materials or packaged chemicals, explosives, etc.
