Wild Northeast tiger spotted again in Jilin. A yellow ox was bitten to death, and when a villager went to check, he ended up climbing a tall tree in fear after a face-off with the tiger, calling for help.
Recently, several netizens in Jilin posted videos claiming to have seen a wild Northeast tiger in Jiaohe, Jilin Province.
According to reports from Red Star News, on June 11th, the village cadre of Hanshang Village in Liaohedao Town confirmed the incident. Around 2 p.m. on May 31st, he received a distress call from a villager surnamed Zhang. The villager claimed that while picking wild vegetables on the mountain, he heard unusual noises nearby and saw a tiger feeding on a yellow ox. When the tiger lifted its head and made eye contact with the villager, the villager ran in fear, climbed a tall tree, and called for help.
“When we rescued him, his legs were trembling,” said the village cadre.
Rescue personnel went to the scene guided by the villager to investigate. They did not spot the tiger but found the neck of a yellow ox had been bitten off, leading to its death. The front shoulder and neck of the body were partially eaten. There were fallen trees and vegetation around, indicating a possible fight. The on-site investigation confirmed that the wild animal responsible for killing the yellow ox was a wild Northeast tiger.
Wild Northeast tigers are relatively common in the area. On March 22nd this year, a Northeast tiger descended from the mountains and loitered near a village entrance in Hunchun, Jilin, sparking fear among local residents.
