On Thursday, January 22, President Trump announced that Miami will bid to host the World Expo in 2035.
Fresh from his trip to Davos, Switzerland, Trump posted on his way back to the United States, saying, “Today, I announce that the United States intends to bid for the 2035 World Expo.”
He said that the state of Florida has expressed a strong desire to host the World Expo in Miami, a decision he fully supports, appointing the Secretary of State as the chairman of the preparatory committee.
“The 2035 Miami World Expo is expected to be another important milestone in the new golden age of the United States,” the President wrote. “I have appointed Miami native and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as chairman to coordinate and promote this exciting event that will bring together countries from around the world.”
The President stated that the World Expo will create thousands of jobs in the United States and bring billions of dollars in economic growth.
“During my first term as President, I worked hard to secure the hosting of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics in the United States. Now, as the 47th President of the United States, I am honored to bid for the 2035 Miami World Expo, as well as to host the United States’ 250th Anniversary Celebration, the G20 Summit in Doral, and the G7 Summit,” he added.
“I look forward to winning the bid and participating in the 2035 Miami World Expo!” the President concluded.
