Hong Kong’s foreign exchange reserves in April decreased by $7.1 billion to $416.4 billion.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) released the latest foreign exchange reserve figures on the 7th, showing a total of $416.4 billion in April, a decrease of $7.1 billion compared to the previous month’s $423.5 billion.

At the end of April 2024, there were no outstanding foreign exchange contracts (compared to $0.5 billion at the end of March 2024).

The total amount of foreign exchange reserves of $416.4 billion is equivalent to over five times the circulating currency in Hong Kong or approximately 39% of the Hong Kong dollar money supply M3.
