Confusion Among People as Trump’s Photo Appears in North Korean Anti-American Propaganda Film

In a North Korean anti-American propaganda video, the photo of former U.S. President Donald Trump appeared, leaving North Korean citizens perplexed. This is because a few years ago, North Korea and the United States held a summit, and Trump’s photo was previously used to praise North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s “success,” but now it is being used in an anti-American context.

According to Radio Free Asia reports, North Korean residents told the station that Trump’s photo is showcased in a propaganda video in North Korea, which implies that the United States is plotting against Pyongyang.

The video is played during the mandatory lectures that North Korean authorities force citizens to attend every week. In the video, Trump and other influential Americans are metaphorically equated to wolves.

North Korean residents expressed confusion as to why Trump’s photo is being used in this manner. In the past, his photo was actively used to promote Kim Jong-un’s “success.” Kim Jong-un held summits with Trump in 2018 and 2019, becoming the first North Korean leader to meet with a sitting U.S. president.

A resident of Hamgyongbuk-do told the station that he was shocked to see Trump’s photo in this propaganda film.

The resident revealed that now the regular lectures by the Workers’ Party are conducted through watching videos. This week’s lecture theme is “Guide to Anti-North Korea Conspiracies,” and it features the aforementioned anti-American propaganda video with Trump’s photo.

Despite Trump holding three meetings with Kim Jong-un in Singapore, Vietnam, and the Korean Peninsula’s DMZ, the United States and North Korea have yet to reach any agreements on denuclearization or sanctions relief.

The resident stated that other residents strongly criticized the confusion surrounding Kim Jong-un’s summit with Trump in this video.

He said, “Here they say, ‘Isn’t it a great thing that Kim Jong-un met and shook hands with the U.S. president? But now the authorities claim that former President Trump is leading an anti-North Korea strategy.'”

A resident of Pyeonganbuk-do told the station that using Trump’s photo in the anti-American propaganda video seems to have left the local residents bewildered.

The resident said that the aim of the lecture is to instill hatred and animosity towards the United States among people, but most do not accept it.

She said, “Most residents do not even listen to the authorities’ propaganda – that the United States is scheming against North Korea to internally destroy our republic.”
