In Hunan Changsha, a private car owner recently got reported for driving with a fake license plate that reads “潤A·88888” on their Audi vehicle. The individual was fined and penalized for this offense.
On June 19th, a netizen posted a video showing a black Audi car on the Changsha Zhongling Overpass heading in the direction of Xingsha Link Line, with a plate reading “潤A88888” attached to the rear license plate. The fake plate was slanted, revealing another plate underneath it.
Commenters speculated in the online discussion section: Did the crew of a short drama forget to remove the license plate?
The character “潤” is a popular term in Chinese internet slang, as its pronunciation “rùn” sounds like the English word “run,” often used by netizens to mean fleeing or escaping, especially to immigrate overseas.
According to the official account of Changsha Political and Legal Channel on WeChat, on June 19th, the Traffic Management Brigade received a report that a black Audi A8L was seen on the section of North Second Ring Road with a loosely hung fake license plate reading “潤A·88888,” which was tilted and suspected of illegally obstructing the vehicle’s license plate. The Traffic Management Brigade notified the driver to undergo investigation and processing.
As reported by Qilu Evening News, on June 20th, the traffic police revealed that the fake plate was a decorative item from a used car showroom, merely hung temporarily to enhance the showroom’s vehicle display. The driver failed to promptly remove the fake plate before driving on the road after the showroom exhibition ended. The driver violated regulations by intentionally blocking the vehicle’s license plate and was fined 200 yuan with 9 points deducted from their driving license as punishment.
