London Underground experiences sudden power outage leading to commute disruption during peak hours.

The London Transport Authority stated that on the afternoon of May 12, several London Underground lines were suspended or disrupted due to a power outage. The power outage incident affected the travels of many people.

According to reports from the Associated Press, information from the London Transport Authority’s website indicated that during the peak hours on Monday (12th), at least three tube lines were temporarily suspended, and at least six other lines experienced severe delays and partial closures. By 11 p.m., the subway service had mostly resumed, with only one line experiencing severe delays.

The London Fire Brigade stated that this power outage was caused by a brief fault in the transmission network of the National Grid.

On Monday, the London Transport Authority mentioned that due to the power outage, trains were temporarily suspended. Some stations were closed as they could not operate safely without electricity.

Last month, a fire broke out at a substation in West London, leading to a power outage that forced Heathrow Airport to close for nearly a day, affecting thousands of flights.

Following the fire, the UK government ordered an investigation into the national “energy resilience.”

This power outage incident has once again raised concerns among the public about the UK’s ability to respond to disasters or attacks on critical infrastructure.
