On May 10th, a fire broke out at the Lianshan Road Darunfa Xishan Store in Jilin City, Jilin Province, with thick smoke billowing at the scene.
Multiple videos circulating online show a glass room on the rooftop of the mall ablaze, with fierce flames and thick smoke rising. Many onlookers gathered in the vicinity.
According to local netizens, the fire occurred at the “glass room on the rooftop of the fourth store of Darunfa.” Another netizen at the scene noted, “There were a lot of vehicles passing by, and pedestrians watching the excitement blocked the roads. The cars parked downstairs at Darunfa blocked the firefighters from getting in. Even when the fire trucks started spraying water to extinguish the fire, the traffic police had not arrived, and the passing vehicles were blocking the way, making it difficult for the following fire trucks to pass through.”
Witness Ms. Chen, as reported by Jimo News, stated that she works across from the Darunfa Xishan Store and the fire broke out around 10 a.m., with thick smoke billowing from the rooftop of her mall.
A shop owner in the vicinity mentioned that around 12 p.m., the fire was brought under control.
In the afternoon of the 10th, the Changyi District Emergency Management Bureau in Jilin City responded to Jimo News, stating that the incident did not result in any casualties. However, they did not mention the cause of the fire.
