After a week of extensive searching, law enforcement agencies and residents of Monterey Park finally located the 15-year-old girl who went missing last Tuesday, on the 16th. Alison Jillian Chao is currently safe and sound.
Alison’s relatives announced on a dedicated missing persons website that she was found on Tuesday morning around 11 a.m.
“We thank the community for their unwavering support and assistance in the search for Alison,” the family wrote on the website. “Without everyone’s help and effort, we could not have achieved this! We rallied together for Alison.”
Local television station ABC7 reported that on Tuesday morning, Alison was discovered by security near the ABC7 office in Glendale, about 16 miles from her home in Monterey Park.
The station stated that security noticed Alison walking with a car following behind her. The driver of the car recognized her as the missing girl and promptly reported it to law enforcement.
According to NBC4, Alison’s father, Jeffery Chao, held a press conference on Tuesday to express thanks to all sectors of society. His lawyer confirmed that the teenager was safely rescued; she had left on her own accord with no signs of crime or kidnapping.
Monterey Park Police Department records show that the last time Alison was seen was around 5:30 p.m. on the 16th when she left her residence on the 200 block of North Ynez Avenue in Monterey Park. Surveillance footage showed her riding a blue mountain bike with a black backpack, heading towards her aunt’s house in San Gabriel, but she never arrived.
Monterey Park Police Department Sergeant Rudy Contreras confirmed with Epoch Times that the girl was found this morning with the assistance of Glendale Police Department and is currently being cared for by the Monterey Park Police Department, in good condition. However, he also mentioned that due to the ongoing investigation, more details cannot be provided at this time.
