Endless Rumors of Marriage Crisis, Company Linked to Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi Has Been Cancelled

In recent live broadcasts, Chinese internet celebrity blogger “Wang Da Fa” discussed the rumored divorce of actors Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi with his partner. Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi, who got married in 2015 after falling in love on the set of the drama “Scarlet Heart,” have been rumored to have already divorced. The news of their alleged divorce has resurfaced due to reports that their affiliated company, “Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture,” has been deregistered. Both parties have yet to respond to the rumors.

During their marriage, Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi welcomed a son in 2019. Wu Qilong has mentioned that their son’s nickname “Bu Bu” comes from the drama that brought them together, symbolizing their hope for him to lead a steady and grounded life. Despite projecting a harmonious image, rumors of their marriage issues have circulated since 2022. The speculation escalated when it was rumored that the couple would officially announce their divorce in the first half of 2025, trending on Weibo towards the end of last year.

On December 18th, Chinese entertainment host “Wang Da Fa” claimed in a live stream that Liu Shishi and Wu Qilong had divorced and hinted that the child is now being taken care of by Wu Qilong and his father, revealing that Liu Shishi has cut ties with the Wu family. This revelation ignited discussions and once again thrust the topic of their divorce into the spotlight.

In another video, “Wang Da Fa” responded to inquiries from netizens about the characters played by Liu Shishi and Wu Qilong in the drama, candidly suggesting that, based on his judgment of the entertainment industry as a whole, it is likely they have indeed divorced. This statement left many surprised.

Despite the swirling speculations, both Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi have remained silent. However, netizens recently discovered that the company “Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Limited,” in which Wu Qilong serves as chairman and Liu Shishi holds a 20% stake, has quietly been deregistered. This finding seemingly bolsters the credibility of the divorce rumors, reigniting interest in their marital status.

Nevertheless, on December 19th, a close friend of Wu Qilong refuted the rumors to Taiwanese media, stating, “They are doing fine. The market is saturated with online influencers chasing trends and traffic. It’s a pathological environment.” Addressing Wu Qilong’s company deregistration, the friend explained, “He has many companies, so it’s not unusual to undergo year-end consolidations. Deregistering a company has no direct correlation to one’s marriage.” Finally, expressing frustration, the friend quoted, “Originally devoid of disturbances, where did the dust come from?”

According to reports from mainland media, Liu Shishi holds stakes in 13 companies, with seven in active status, while Wu Qilong is associated with three companies, but only Zhenjiang Love Electric Smart Energy Co., Ltd. remains active. “Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Limited” and Jiuzhou Longzhi Heart Film and Television Culture Studio have been deregistered. Notably, “Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Limited” was a joint venture between Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi.

The company went public in Hong Kong under the name “Straw Bear Entertainment” in 2021, with its stock price soaring to HK$10.8 on the first day, reaching a peak market capitalization of HK$7.16 billion. However, due to the pandemic’s impact, the stock price steadily declined, leading to a significant decrease in the company’s total market value to HK$402 million.

On December 19th, Liu Shishi shared on Weibo, “Happy filming,” along with several cover photos from a fashion magazine shoot. Her cheerful demeanor indicated her indifference towards the divorce rumors, choosing instead to focus on her work.
