Long Island woman turns garage into drug den, sells fentanyl through dark web.

A Long Island woman in Suffolk County is facing charges for operating an underground dark web drug sales network out of her own garage, shipping deadly drugs such as fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine to various locations across the country. The Suffolk County prosecutors announced on Thursday (November 20) that the woman has officially pleaded guilty.

Authorities in Suffolk County identified the suspect as 46-year-old Carolyn Tolin, residing in Centereach on Long Island. From September 2024 to March of this year, she operated a drug operation out of her garage, selling over $75,000 worth of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin.

Prosecutors stated that Tolin ran a drug “shop” on the dark web under the name “MamaKnowsBrown,” where she sold heroin, fentanyl, as well as crack or powdered cocaine. Buyers made payments using cryptocurrencies, and Tolin would convert the cryptocurrencies into cash.

This underground web store even offered various shipping methods and allowed customers to leave reviews. Tolin would even “thoughtfully” include an overdose warning card with each drug package, reminding buyers to have naloxone (Narcan) handy, to avoid using drugs alone, and cautioning that the drugs sold were “only for experienced long-term users” due to their extremely high potency.

These drugs were shipped via mail or Uber, reaching customers nationwide, showcasing the significant size and expansion capacity of this drug trafficking network as “extremely dangerous.”

Raymond Tierney, the local prosecutor in Suffolk County, stated, “The scale of the drug operation this defendant ran out of her garage at home is alarming.”

Tolin has already pleaded guilty to charges including possession of controlled substances (criminal level) and attempting to engage in large-scale drug trafficking. She could face up to 15 years in prison.
