On November 15, 2025, President Trump announced on Friday, November 14, his decision to withdraw his endorsement of Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia, and stated his support for a candidate to challenge her in the upcoming midterm primary elections next year.
President Trump made the announcement on Friday evening on his social media platform “Truth Social,” saying, “I am withdrawing my support and endorsement for the great Georgia ‘woman congresswoman,’ Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
Trump criticized the Georgia Republican lawmaker for ignoring the “record-breaking achievements” of his administration since taking office and instead constantly “complaining, complaining, complaining.”
He stated, “This all seems to have started when I sent her a poll showing she should not run for Senator or Governor, with a support rate of only 12%, no chance (of course, unless she gets my endorsement – which she clearly won’t).”
Trump added that Greene has been complaining to many people that he no longer returns her calls, and that he has to deal with over two hundred Republican members of Congress, 24 Cabinet members, nearly 200 countries, and lead a normal life, so it is impossible to take calls from a “ranting lunatic” every day.
Trump accused Greene of “moving to the extreme left” and promised in his post that if a suitable Republican challenges Greene in the 2026 midterm primary elections, he will provide “full and steadfast support.”
Greene has long been a reliable ally and staunch defender of Trump, but recently, she has had disagreements with Trump and some of her Republican colleagues. She opposed the Trump administration’s actions against Iran, becoming the first Republican in Congress to label Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide.” She also signed a petition with Democrats trying to force a vote in the House on releasing documents related to the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. On the issue of government shutdown, she also contradicted the Republican party’s stance, stating that they have no plan to address healthcare issues.
After Trump’s post on Friday evening, Greene immediately responded on the social media platform X, stating that “President Trump just attacked me and lied.” She said she never called Trump in the first place and attributed the reason for Trump’s animosity to the Epstein issue.
Greene’s district is a deep red stronghold where Republicans have an overwhelming advantage. Trump’s move on Friday may open the door for Georgia Republicans seeking to challenge her.
