New York City Five Borough Bike Tour to be Held This Weekend in 2024.

The largest road cycling event in the United States, the “TD Five Boro Bike Tour,” will kick off its 46th annual event in the five boroughs of New York City this weekend. Despite the weather forecast indicating a wet and rainy day on Sunday, May 5th, the event is still expected to attract around 30,000 cycling enthusiasts.

Since 1977, this event has become a tradition in New York City, with the exception of pauses in 1991 due to sponsorship issues and in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been held every year.

This year’s route spans a whopping 40 miles, starting from Manhattan, passing through the Bronx, returning to Manhattan, then cruising through Queens and Brooklyn, and finally concluding on Staten Island.

The first wave of cyclists will depart from Lower Manhattan at 7:30 a.m., with the last wave scheduled to begin at 10:25 a.m. To ensure the safety of the riders and the smooth progress of the event, several streets will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, including sections from Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue to the Queensboro Bridge, Pulaski Bridge, and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge leading to Staten Island.
