On Saturday afternoon, a series of shootings occurred in the busiest commercial area of Twin Falls, Idaho, resulting in multiple casualties.
According to reports by CNN, Public Information Officer Josh Palmer stated that the shootings took place in a commercial area in the north of Twin Falls, with the first shooting occurring at 2:29 pm inside an In-N-Out burger restaurant.
Palmer revealed that the shootings have resulted in at least three fatalities and two injuries. “We want to emphasize that this figure may change, as this is just the initial number we have received.”
The gunman has been reported dead, and the earlier issued “shelter-in-place” orders in the area have all been lifted.
Twin Falls is located approximately 130 miles southeast of Boise and serves as a vital regional center in southern Idaho. The area where the shootings took place is home to numerous hotels, chain retailers, and restaurants, catering to local residents and passing tourists.
Following the shooting incident, the Twin Falls Police Department issued a statement on social media platforms, urging residents and visitors to stay away from the incident area to allow law enforcement officers and first responders to safely carry out their duties. They also mentioned that nearby roads and the main crossing of the Snake River Canyon, Perrine Bridge, have been closed.
Idaho Senator Mike Crapo took to social media on Saturday to urge local residents and tourists to comply with law enforcement instructions, steer clear of the incident area, and promptly report any suspicious activities. He also expressed gratitude for the swift response of first responders.
Federal Congressman Mike Simpson from Idaho also stated that his team is closely monitoring the latest updates released by the Twin Falls Police Department.
