4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Duolun County in Inner Mongolia, Felt in Hebei and Beijing

On the night of March 25th, at 22:53, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Duolun County, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia (latitude 42.47 degrees, longitude 116.76 degrees) with a depth of 12 kilometers. The tremor was felt in regions such as Hebei and Beijing.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 37 kilometers from Duolun County town, 68 kilometers from Zhenglan Banner, 101 kilometers from Weichang Manchu and Mongolian Autonomous County in Hebei, 109 kilometers from Kesikten Banner, 126 kilometers from Guyuan County in Hebei, 173 kilometers from Xilin Gol League, and 286 kilometers from Beijing.

Residents in Duolun, Zhenglan Banner, Chifeng, Weichang, and other areas reported feeling the tremor, with some high-rise residents in Beijing experiencing slight swaying.

In the early hours of the 26th, the local emergency response agency responded to Red Star News that the earthquake’s epicenter was surrounded by vast forested areas within a radius of 5 kilometers. No reports of casualties have been received yet, and the extent of damage to buildings will need to be further confirmed once daylight breaks.
