Resident in Jiangxi Forgot to Turn Off Fire When Leaving Home, Returned to Find House in Ruins

Recently, a resident in Jiangxi received a phone call while cooking, and then rushed out forgetting to turn off the stove, causing a fire that resulted in the house being burned down.

According to several mainland Chinese media reports, the homeowner was in the kitchen at home, just starting to heat up the oil to cook when he received a call to go check on a rented property. In his haste to leave, he forgot to turn off the stove, causing the oil in the pan to catch fire quickly and spread throughout the entire house. By the time the homeowner returned, the house was engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, but the house had already been severely damaged by the fire.

It is reported that the residential building where the incident occurred is a standard multi-story residential building, with the fire starting on a middle floor. This fire was purely an accidental outcome of a momentary negligence.

According to statistics from the mainland fire department, in-home fires caused by careless use of fire, electricity, and gas account for over 60% of all residential fires, with kitchen fires being a particularly common occurrence. This case of a residential building fire in Jiangxi serves as a reminder to the general public to always be present throughout the cooking process, and if leaving the house, ensure all gas valves are completely closed, flames are extinguished, and there are no safety hazards present before departing.
